Hinge — Marketing site

Overview

Hinge's site is the first impression for millions of people deciding whether to download the app. The brief was a site that feels as considered as the product: warm, editorial and fast.

The challenge

A consumer brand site has to look effortless on every device and browser while loading instantly. It also has to stay easy for the team to update. Heavy frameworks would have added weight without adding value.

Approach

  • Semantic HTML. Proper heading hierarchy and ARIA landmarks keep it accessible and SEO-friendly.
  • Modern CSS. Grid, Flexbox, custom properties and fluid typography give one responsive layout from phone to desktop.
  • Progressive enhancement. Core content works without JavaScript; interactions layer on top.
  • Cross-browser polish. The experience is consistent across modern browsers and degrades gracefully in older ones.

Design details

  • A typography-first build with careful line height, letter spacing and measure
  • Generous whitespace that lets photography carry the brand
  • Subtle micro-interactions that give feedback without distraction
  • Performance treated as a feature, because fast loads feel premium

Outcome

A lightweight, fast-loading site with zero runtime dependencies, proving that well-crafted fundamentals hold their own against framework-heavy builds.
